The parties surrounding Art Basel kicked into high gear on Wednesday night in anticipation of yesterday's opening at the convention center. Here's a look at the happenings around town, which included performances by Santigold and DJ trio the Misshapes, as well as burlesque performers from New York nightclub the Box.

Cuban artist Carlos Estevez unveiled his largest painting to date on Tuesday night at the Ritz-Carlton, Key Biscayne. The hotel served clam shooters and other hors d\'oeuvres to some 200 guests.

Interview staged a Ping-Pong tournament at the magazine's Art Basel headquarters at the Mondrian South Beach on Wednesday afternoon. DJ Leigh Lezark of the DJ trio the Misshapes–who hit the turntables for part of the afternoon—took part in the table tennis with Interview editor at large Christopher Bollen.

Interview also installed its \"Semi-Automatic\" vending machine—filled with luxury gift items—in the lobby of the Mondrian, where it has been since January and will remain through the end of December, as part of the magazine's 40th anniversary celebration.

Artist Miguel Paredes celebrated the opening of his \"Manifestation of Cross-Over Art\" exhibition—which combines fine art, pop art, digital pieces, mixed media, and sculpture—on Wednesday night with a V.I.P. reception in a pop-up gallery inside the 412 Lincoln Road building.
